Ameobi joins League One side Fleetwood Town


League One side relegation battlers Fleetwood Town have confirmed the signing of former Bolton Wanderers striker Shola Ameobi on a contract till the end of the season.

The 34-year-old former Nigeria international left Wanderers last month as they were unable to offer him a new deal due to their financial problems is available for Fleetwood's game at Port Vale on Saturday.

And his new coach Steven Pressle will be banking in his wealth of experience to avoid the drop. He said: .....

Stephen in debut defeat for RSL


One cap Super Eagles midfielder Sunday Stephen made his debut for Red Salt Lake lost 1-0 defeat to the Portland Timbers in the club’s first preseason match against at FC Tucson’s Kino Sports Complex.

A first-minute goal by Lucas Melano made the difference in the game that saw the 27 year old being replaced on the hour mark by Luke Mulholland.

Iheanacho ready for Spurs fight




Manchester City's forward Kelechi Iheanacho says its fight to the finish for his side against Tottenham when both teams go head-to-head on Super Sunday.

Iheanacho's City suffered a 3-1 home defeat to leaders Leicester City last weekend and are six points behind the Foxes, one behind Spurs who won the reverse fixture 4-1 at White Hart Lane.

The 19 year old is banking on the quality players in the squad to bounce back to winning ways.

Iwobi consoles Arsenal's U-19



Arsenal's Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi has sympthaized with the Gunners Under-19 side who were sent crashing out of the UEFA Youth League play-offs after being beaten by a clinical Anderlecht in Brussels.

Iwobi has made four appearances for the Gunners this term in the EPL however urged the Gunners Under-19 side not to dwell much on the defeat but to look forward to the next game.

Aguero Beats Iheanacho To POTM Award



Manchester City top scorer Sergio Aguero was voted Etihad Player of the Month for January ahead of Kelechi Iheanacho.

Iheanacho finished a respectable second with 50% of Sergio's vote and Bacary Sagna finished third according to a report on the Manchester City official website Tuesday morning.

Hughes hand Odemwingie 12 game ultimatum


Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has handed Osaze Odemwingie a 12 game ultimatum to earn himself a deal at the club.

The Nigerian international is out of contract in the summer and the club has given no indication of any fresh deal after so little game time this season.
