Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh has blamed his ‘insane critics’
for the recent backlashes he has received after his team’s disappointing
showing at CHAN 2016 in Rwanda.
Oliseh in a youtube video said he was sad and angry at the
development which he sees as a distraction for his technical crew and his players
ahead of the all important 2017 African Nations Cup against Egypt in Kaduna
next month.
“With due respects to the CHAN competitions it’s the least
in order for CAF and when we should be rallying round the team on how we should
prosecute the game against Egypt but we are throwing up all sorts,”
I’m sad and with such news of the impending sack the coach. We
have not failed, my predecessor was judged after he failed to qualify for the
Nations Cup.
Meanwhile, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will have to be
ready with a handsome pay-off should they fire the country’s coach Sunday
Oliseh and the former skipper remained unfazed about the prospect of losing his
job just after eight months of taking over from Stephen Keshi.
Oliseh’s pay-off could be as much as his pay for three
years, which could come down to as much as 180 million Naira.
Last year, Nigeria failed to defend the AFCON 2013 crown
they won in South Africa after they did not qualify for the tournament in
Equatorial Guinea.
